Lesson objective: conduct a close analysis of a television drama in order to explain how regional identity is represented

What stereotypes of regional identity can you think of? Where do you think these stereotypes come from and why?

Watch the following extract and write a summary about how regional identity is represented

Follow the link to TubeChop
This tool will allow you to select parts of the clip and embed them on your blog, or provide a URL to the newly chopped YouTube clip

Use TubeChop to select key moments from the extract which illustrate how different representations of regional identities are constructed.

Find at least one example for each of the following

·         How camera angles are used to construct representations
·         How shot compositions are used to construct representations
·         How editing is used to construct representations
·         How non-diegetic sound is used to construct representations
·         How diegetic sound is used to construct representations
·         How mise-en-scene is used to construct representations

For each of the above, write a detailed paragraph which analysis how representations of regional identity are constructed.
